“….An architect is a lonely man because he will be constantly searching how to create a better environment…”

Eko’s works, being modern and local at same time, expressed questions about tradition & modernity, it continuity & loss in the region. His works did transcend all trends and showmanship. It must be seen as an attempt to answer the deeper questions of rapid development & modernization. Through some projects, he redefined the role of architecture as a ‘facilitator’, harnessing and collaborating community knowledge.

“.. I don’t remember history, and see that’s my problem”
Architect Vijitha’s works demonstrated strong ethical frameworks regarding ideas of place, environment & ways of sustaining. The Designs did not follows set rules or styles, but was an ‘effortless’ conclusion derived from the immediate context. At times, these conclusions did effortlessly deconstruct the normative ideas of structure & enclosure. Extremely rich, vibrant and creative in use of materials and colors, the spaces truly elevates human spirit!
